  • October half term poetry competition

    Wed 12 Oct 2022

Over the half-term holiday we are challenging all our children to take part in our autumn poetry competition.  We would love you to write a poem on the theme of autumn.

    It could be about:

    • harvest
    • leaves falling from the trees
    • conkers, acorns and pinecones
    • animals we see in autumn
    • the evenings getting darker
    • Halloween
    • pumpkins
    • Bonfire night
    • fireworks

It could be in any style:

    • a rhyming poem
    • an acrostic
    • a shape poem
    • a Haiku
    • a limerick
    • a Kenning

You could have a look at https://childrens.poetryarchive.org/ to get some inspiration or ideas about how to layout your poem.  Think about the senses and try to be descriptive.

Entries need to have your name and class on and be handed in to your class teacher by Friday 4th November 2022.  There will be a special prize for each key stage.

    Happy writing.

We can’t wait to see your poems!
