  • Save the Children Visit by Lady Kitty Spencer

    Thu 24 Jan 2019

Cliftonville Primary School has been a key partner with Save the Children for a number of years running programmes such as ‘Take Care’, ‘Eat, Sleep, Play’ and Families Connect.

We recently had a visit from Lady Kitty Spencer, Princess Diana’s niece, model and ambassador for the charity- Save the Children. She came to find out more about how the Families Connect programme is supporting our children and families. Lady Kitty Spencer took part in some activities in the classroom as well as meeting a range of families who have participated in the programmes.

Speaking about the visit, Lady Kitty said: Cliftonville Primary is an incredibly special school and I was genuinely moved by all the work that goes on.

A big thank you to Mrs McAvoy who has been leading and running these programmes.

  • Welcome to our new Parent Support Adviser

    Wed 09 Jan 2019

My name is Cheryl Waumsley and I am the new Parent Support Adviser working alongside Lucie McAvoy at Cliftonville Primary and Pre-School.

The aim of the PSA is to assist parents with all social, emotional and welfare aspects of raising a child which can sometimes be challenging but ultimately rewarding.

    The PSA can help with:

    • Family relationships
    • Housing or benefit issues
    • Challenging behaviours
    • Attendance issues
    • Domestic violence
    • Assistance with completing forms and letters
    • Attending appointments with outside agencies including meetings.
    • Healthy living/ eating.
    • Informal counselling and referrals to appropriate agencies if required.

There are no rule books when bringing up children and at times life throws us some challenges which we can find difficult to deal with.

Please never feel you are alone, I have an open door policy and am here to help you, the best that I can. I work directly with families and can provide a friendly listening ear .I am available for informal chats about things that concern you as parents, including any of the above.

Sometimes just knowing that you are not alone and having the opportunity to talk things through is enough to put life in prospective.

I work with in partnership with statutory and voluntary agencies for the benefit of our families, and can make referrals as and when needed.

My working hours are Monday to Friday 8.30am – 4.30pm, and I am in the playground most days at the beginning and end of school so please come and find me.

If you are unsure of approaching me direct then contact me on the school number and I will be happy to help.

    The number is 01843 227575.
