Cliftonville Primary and Pre-School School is a diverse school community, there are children from many different ethnic backgrounds. We feel it is important to celebrate this diversity and find it so inspiring that children as young as 3 and 4 years of age can speak more than one language fluently.
Currently we speak over 30 different languages spoken in our school. This means we can support children arriving from other countries by spending time with a friend who can communicate with them in their home language.
Pupils are invited to volunteer as Language Ambassadors to help younger children that have little English feel welcome, to assist children who need extra help. The Language Ambassadors may visit classes throughout the week to offer language support when needed or translate for the teachers.
This year the Language Ambassadors visited the younger children in their classroom, and attended a reading/playing session in the Wellbeing Hub House.
