Primary and nursery schools in Kent, Medway, Bexley and Bromley have had the chance to become music superstars with the KM Walk to School Song Contest. We were thrilled to find out that our school is a finalist and the children, led by Mrs Seemann, have been invited to record their song professionally at a leading recording studio in Canterbury on the 22nd June. Only 6 schools across Kent are finalists.
The competition is organised by the Walk to School division of the KM Charity Team in association with Independent Music Productions (IMP) and supported by 3Rs teacher recruitment. The prize includes up to six groups of finalists being invited into the recording studio to professionally record their track.
Congratulations to the Music Council, superbly supported by Mrs Seemann, for becoming finalists!

We were excited and very proud to learn that not only did we win the Thanet 'School Team of the Year' award but we were also overall Kent winners in this prestigious category. Five members of the senior leadership team attended an evening celebrating the best of Kent schools. The award was presented by Geraldine Allinson, Chairman of the KM Group, and Anton Francic, Director of School Improvement for KCC.
Thank you to all the year 3 parents who came for the maths workshop this morning. It was great to see such a long queue of people waiting for a maths session to begin. Your children loved seeing you and playing the games. We hope you enjoyed it and feel you have a greater understanding of how we teach maths at Cliftonville! Please follow this link to the resources:

Following nominations from a number of people, including parents, we have won the '2017 School Team of the Year' award for Thanet. Staff are attending a presentation event in Maidstone tonight. This is in recognition of the huge team effort from everyone involved in our school: children, parents & carers, staff, governors and the wider community. Thank you for your part in our amazing achievements!
Well done to all those children who entered the Springtime maths competition. We had lots of lovely Spring themed entries, from hatching chicks to jumping rabbits and many more. My particular favourite was from Ashley, a year 6 pupil who calculated the weight of Easter eggs if all the people who live in Thanet had 3 Easter eggs each! Especially well done to the reception children who entered, it was lovely that they joined in the fun over their Easter holidays.
Mrs Weitzel
Well done to all the amazing Year 6 children who have responded to the demands of SATs this week in such a mature and responsible way. The careful preparation by class teachers and teaching assistants has played such an important part in helping the children do their very best. We are so proud of you all!
As anticipated, our previously awarded 5 Hygiene Rating has been given again following an inspection last week. You may remember that due to a very temporary problem with hot water supply to the new kitchen, we lost the rating. The company repairing the faulty boiler was actually here, in the boiler house, when Thanet District Council (TDC) visited in May 2016 and there was never a question of not being able to serve meals with the temporary measures we had already put in place. Frustratingly, the rules of inspection by TDC, meant that we could not be re-inspected for nearly a year and we have carried the 0 rating for all this time as a consequence. Good news tends to spread slower than bad news, so we are keen to make sure that the school and wider community hear that the 5 rating has been re-instated again.
Mrs Weitzel and our Maths in Motion team were very excited to learn that we are WORLD FINALISTS this year. A group of children will be travelling to Warwickshire next month to compete against some of the toughest teams from across the world. It is such an amazing and much-deserved reward for such a talented team of children. We are extremely proud of them. Mrs Weitzel is also very grateful for the support from Mr Hedges.

We are encouraging children to build up their repertoire of poems they can recite 'off by heart'. Please help you child learn these at home.
