Signing choir visits Age UK
Thu 06 Dec 2018Our amazing signing choir visited Age UK Thanet yesterday singing Christmas songs and carols. It was a wonderful atmosphere and much fun and enjoyment was had by all.

Christmas has come to Cliftonville
Mon 03 Dec 2018Thank you to all our lovely parents who attended the Christmas Fair this afternoon. It was wonderful to see so many of you taking advantage of visiting Father Christmas, buying a few Christmas gifts, trying your luck on a variety of tombolas and listening to our amazing signing choir singing a few Christmas songs.
Father Christmas and all festivities will be back tomorrow night for KS2 children and parents.

The Integrated schools project
We wanted to share the exciting news that your child’s school is involved in a new project where we will be working with a multi-agency team to:
· Identify areas in the local community where young people want to feel more safe
· Identify risk with young people and work to support them / you to keep safe
· Support improved behaviour at school and in the community
· Improve access to community support and activities, providing safe activities for young people and their families
· Support improved attendance
We would like parents to be as involved in the project and if you have any thoughts or ideas on this please let us know using the contact details below.
If you would prefer for your child not to be involved in the project, please let the school know by contacting Claire Whichcord, Head of School.
In cases where there are any immediate concerns normal school policies will be followed.

Children in Need 2018
Fri 16 Nov 2018A huge congratulations and well done to everyone in school today fundraising money for Children in Need.
We raised just over £900 which was an amazing effort from the school community.
A brilliant effort- thank you.

School comes 15th in the World in maths competition!
Fri 16 Nov 2018'World Maths in Motion' day results.
On Wednesday our Maths in Motion club participated in World Maths in Motion Day.
The challenge was to create a car that would give the fastest practice lap for the Le Mans Grand Prix track. The children had to measure the race track to find the features then set up a car to make it as efficient as possible. After this they needed to calculate the fastest speed their car could go through all the features without crashing. Each member of the club competed and all practice lap speeds were recorded.
We are really excited to say that of the 13, 000 entries worldwide a team from our school came 15th.
What an amazing achievement! We are all so proud of you.

Wed 14 Nov 2018Football Festival – 21st September 2018
On Friday 21st September Cliftonville hosted the second Football Festival of the term having two teams with a range of experience from the school competing. All the children demonstrated excellent sportsmanship and a desire to win against teams from Holy Trinity Margate and Holy Trinity Ramsgate. Both teams managed to win the majority of their games.
Les Riggs and John Curran Cups- September 2018
In our Les Riggs cup match on Wednesday 26th September Cliftonville narrowly lost in the dying minutes to St Josephs 3-2, both goals coming from Jay Jay Lees. However this disappointment was soon put behind them on Friday 28th September when Cliftonville won their John Curran Group match, beating teams from St Nicholas, Haddon Dene, St Josephs and Palm Bay so becoming one of the top 5 teams in Thanet. At the finals held at Upton the following week a less than full strength side did the school proud and were rewarded with a unique medal for their efforts.
Super Saturday 13th October 2018
On a long and tiring Saturday morning at Upton, Cliftonville took part in the annual Super Saturday Football Festival. During the first round of group matches Cliftonville drew each of the four games 0-0. This took us through to compete for the TPSFA Bowl. Once again not many goals were conceded, but Leyton Homewood managed to score for the school. Every child received a medal for their efforts.
Girls Football Festival- Saturday 29th September 2018
An enthusiastic team of Year 5 & 6 Girls took part in the annual Football Festival at Upton. In the group stages Cliftonville played teams from Newington, St Saviours, Drapers Mill, Haddon Dene and St Ethleberts. The team managed to win one game thanks to a goal from Eva Lindsay Wood and drew most of the rest 0-0. This took Cliftonville to a penalty shoot-out against Haddon Dene which they won 8-7 and so progress to the quarter finals where they met St Saviours. This time, after a goalless game and some excellent goalkeeping of Eva Lindsay-Wood, Cliftonville lost 7-6 on penalties. On a thoroughly enjoyable morning for players and spectators the girls received a medal for their efforts.
Year 2 Football Festival – 16th October 2018
Children from Year 2 enjoyed playing in their first Football festival at Margate on Tuesday 16th October. Playing a player short Cliftonville still managed to win two and draw one of their games against St Gregorys, Birchington, Callis Grange and St Crispins. Taylor Mannion received an extra medal for his outstanding play.
Intra-School Basketball Tournament- October
Seventy children competed at lunchtimes in the inaugural Basketball competition for Years 5 & 6. In a close fought final the team led by Logan Milne won the competition against a team led by Jay-Jay Lees 8-5.

Cross Country News at Quex Park
Wed 14 Nov 2018Cross Country Quex Park- Saturday 6th October
30 brave children took part in the first Cross Country event of the year. Special mentions for the Year 3 children as this was their first time, Maisie Kemp who finished 11th in her race and Molly Harris from Year 6 who chose the longer distance to make her debut. She, like every child that competed, showed resilience and determination to finish their own personal race.
