Inspirational visit from Tosin Oke, Triple Jump Olympic and Commonwealth Medallist
On Tuesday 8th March, Cliftonville welcomed Tosin Oke, a Nigerian track and field athlete, who competes in the triple jump. He has won back-to-back African Championships in Athletics titles and the Commonwealth Games championship and is the current All-Africa Games Champion. At the 2012 Summer Olympics Oke finished seventh in the triple jump final, the best Nigerian result of the Games.
The children at Cliftonville were wowed and inspired through hearing Tosin’s journey and life in international athletics. Tosin’s message to our children was simple, that they should always be aiming to be the best that they can be in everything that they do, whether that was in the classroom, playing sport, eating healthily or indeed tidying their rooms!
Tosin also demonstrated how far he could jump, to everyone’s amazement!!
The children went back to class to discuss how they could be the best they could be. This was an amazing morning with Tosin that the children and staff will never forget. A big Cliftonville thank you must go to Tosin Oke for inspiring our children to be the best they can be.
