Letter for Y2 regarding online learning

Dear Parents and Carers

This term we are aiming to enhance the remote learning experience for children by providing live lessons. These will start on the morning of Wednesday 6th January with an introductory live lesson at 8.45am during which your child’s teacher will explain to them how the lessons will work, establish rules and answer questions. This will also be an opportunity to ‘catch up’.

A short video on how to access the live lessons is on the school website.

https://cliftonvilleprimaryschool.primarysite.media/media/guide-for-teams-and-live-lessons

From Thursday 7th January, there will be two lessons a day:

8.45am – 9.15 am: Registration and English (Please go to the ‘Posts’ section of the English channel to access the lesson at this time)

10.30 am – 11.00 am: Maths (Please go to the ‘Posts’ section of the Maths channel to access the lesson at this time)

Each lesson will include a lesson introduction and teaching input followed by an opportunity to ask questions and clarify understanding. The children will then complete the task set in the relevant subject channel. The teacher will remain within the live lesson for a short while to answer any questions about the task. The children should then complete the task independently.

The live lessons are shorter than school lessons to enable families with more than one child at home to access all lessons. The lessons will be recorded as well so that children who are unable to access them at the set time, can access them later. The recorded lessons can be found in the ‘Files’ section of the appropriate channel.

If your child does not have their Teams log in details at home, please contact the school and we will be able to provide them.

For safeguarding and GDPR purposes, we request that families follow this code of conduct while accessing live lessons:

  • Start lessons with cameras and microphones turned off
  • Only turn on microphones and/or cameras when asked to do so by the teacher
  • Use appropriate language
  • Ensure an appropriate background, without personal information or unsuitable items in view
  • Where possible, only the child and (and possibly a supporting adult) should be in view
  • Children follow behaviour expectations as outlined by the teacher at the start of the lesson

ALTHOUGH WE ARE ASKING FOR THE CAMERAS TO BE OFF, IF YOU DO NOT WANT YOUR CHILD TO BE PART OF THE LIVE LESSON (WHICH WILL BE RECORDED) PLEASE ACCESS THE RECORDED VERSION ONLY. THIS RECORDING CAN ONLY BE ACCESSED BY YOUR CHILD’S CLASS.

We are very hopeful that these lessons will improve your child’s home learning experiences, as well as support their wellbeing at this challenging time. Please do contact the school if you have any queries or require any support with this.

Yours sincerely

Assistant Head Teacher
