Volunteering in school

We really welcome volunteers!

At Cliftonville Primary School we recognise that volunteers can make a significant contribution to the children and wider work of the school.  Some people can offer a regular one morning/day commitment and others can help with more one-off events such as trips or drama productions.  Not everybody wants to hear children read.  Some like helping sort lost property.  Others have a talent for art and display or have experience of working in a library.  We can always make the best use of all talents, skills, experience and interests!

The school expects everyone, whether in a paid role or volunteer, to conform to high standards of behaviour and conduct whilst carrying out their duties.  This is a summary of our expectations:

cryingRespect children, staff and other volunteers
cryingBe sensitive towards others
cryingBe approachable and pleasant
cryingDress and behave in a manner which promotes healthy and safe working practices
cryingMaintain the confidentiality of information (about children & staff) at all times

We have a code of conduct which we ask you to sign and all volunteers have to have a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. This used to be called a CRB check.  Even if you already have one from a job or another voluntary role, we still need to process a new education check.  We will also request two written character references before you start.

Please speak to the school office or one of the senior leadership team if you are interested in volunteering.

We'll never throw you in at the deep end! There's always great support for our volunteers!
